Our School

Behaviour Management

We believe that managing behaviour is a whole school responsibility – students, staff, parents and the wider community.  In this learning community teachers have a right to teach and students have a right to learn.  Schools have a responsibility to create an environment where learning can occur and an environment where students feel comfortable and free from threats.

A Responsible Behaviour Plan is necessary so that teaching time is used effectively and so that we can teach the very important life skill of students taking responsibility for their own actions.

The Responsible Behaviour Plan operates in classrooms, the school grounds, excursions, camps, socials and all school functions and related activities.  The following three cornerstones of expected behaviour underpin the Responsible Behaviour Plan –

Commonsense – Consideration – Cooperation

Rights and Responsibilities
To have a positive and caring school where everyone feels safe, wanted and happy and where everyone can work and learn in a friendly, supportive environment means that everyone must respect the rights and responsibilities of all groups in the community.

At Wynnum State High we clearly define these rights and responsibilities within our Responsible Behaviour Plan.
