
Social and Community Studies
Social and Community Studies is a Senior Authority Registered subject undertaken in Years 11 and 12 that contributes to an Overall Position.
Social and Community Studies (SCS) investigates the four life roles considered essential to living in society. These are personal management, management of relationships, resource management and community involvement. This subject is designed to equip students with a set of skills which is considered necessary to enable people to become fully participating members of our society. Students will study units which will allow them to develop skills related to self awareness, self management, living and relating to others, and citizenship.
This is a very practical “hands-on” subject where students are expected to participate fully in the course activities.

PREREQUISITE SUBJECT
There are no prerequisite subject requirements for SCS. Students must be willing to become involved in the practical courses offered and participate in pool based activities.

A variety of assessment items will be completed during the course including:
- Community Project report
- Bronze Medallion Certification
- First Aid Certificate testing
- Driver Education
- Travel folio
- Employment – Jobs application tasks
