
Science 21
This subject is an authority subject that contributes to an overall position. Science 21 - Trial is a multi-disciplinary science subject that allows students to investigate all areas of science. The aim of Science 21 - Trial is to cater for students who may wish to pursue a tertiary education but who do not wish to specialise in a single scientific area. Students who study Science 21 – Trial may also undertake Chemistry, Physics or Biology or any combination of them. This course may change its name as the trial continues.

PREQUISITE SUBJECT
There are no prerequisite subjects, however XSC672 is offered in Year 10 as a preparation for Science 21 – Trial and it is strongly advised that students who wish to study this subject have a good grounding in it. Scientific curiosity, a willingness to participate in a variety of learning experiences and a commitment to work are prerequisites for successful students.
HOMEWORK
Homework and study is a necessary part of senior study and will take the form of background reading, question answering, topic research and completing practical activities.
ASSESSMENT
Assessment will be predominantly in the form of:
- Supervised assessment
- Extended practical investigation
- Collection of work
- Non-experimental investigations
A number of excursions have been planned as part of the course. The attendance of students at excursions is considered a valuable part of course work and is assessable. The cost of excursions is not included in the Text, Equipment & Resource Scheme and students will be advised the cost of excursions at least one prior to the date of the excurion.
