
Chemistry
This is a senior Authority subject that contributes to an Overall Position. The Chemistry course aims to foster in students an understanding of the nature of Chemistry and its application to solving everyday problems.
POSSIBLE TOPICS:
Can chemistry save the Titanic?
Forensic chemistry
Making new materials
Drugs and body chemistry
Practical work forms a significant part of this course. Students will be expected participate in all learning experiences and diligently complete class work and home tasks.
PREREQUISITE SUBJECT
Students wishing to study Senior Chemistry should have obtained a “B” in both junior Science and Mathematics, especially XSC672 and MAJ672.

HOMEWORK
It is expected that each student will spend at least 30 minutes each night on homework and other reading. Experimental reports also have to be written approximately every fortnight.
